Knit Meets Knot
In June of 2019 I got the tremendous opportunity to work with Bluprint and Vincent from @Knotbad to create a riveting craft show called: Knit Meets Knot.
Bluprint is NBCUniversal’s state-of-the-art digital lifestyle learning platform and streaming service that offers a library of beginner to advanced-level content from world-class experts in categories such as crafting, knitting, sewing, wellness, cooking, baking, fitness and more.
In this five part series, we make one fun item per episode that highlights the differences and similarities between knitting and crocheting. The fabulous thing about this show is that beyond all the witty banter and mischief that happens between Vincent and I, you also have access to the patterns for every cute craft that we make on the show! So if you’re a crocheter, there’s something for you in every episode, and if you are a knitter, same thing! There’s a little something for everyone on Knit Meets Knot!
Episode 1: Bobble Beanies. In this episode we teach you how to make slouchy bobble beanies, and we even do a deep dive on how each of us make our bobbles. Halfway through the show we get to talking about how both of us started our journey into the yarniverse. Spoiler alert: When Vincent first began, it took him 7 hours to learn how to chain.
Episode 2: Toys. In this episode we show you how to make adorable little dogs using both of our crafts: his dog is made using the art of amigurumi, and my knitted dog takes a more modern approach and is shaped like a balloon animal. Halfway through this episode we chat about what inspires us and how we maintain our creative edge.
Episode 3: Embellished Denim: In this episode we take two ordinary jean jackets and embellish them with each of our crafts. My jean jacket features a giant geometric appliqué on the back, and Vincent boldly cuts off an entire sleeve and replaces it with a cool and comfy crocheted sleeve. You can even replicate our unique yarn punk projects by downloading the pattern on Bluprint!
Episode 4: Cowls. In this episode we talk about our previous jobs while we crank out some really cool (and simple) cowls. Both of our cowl projects are great for gifting and equally perfect for selfish knitting or crocheting. Why make a cowl? Imagine you’re running out the door for a Christmas party, you just finished baking a pie and you have no time to put together a cute outfit, but it’s snowing outside and you want to look cool but also stay warm: this is where your handmade cowl comes into play. You can run over to your drawer and easily throw on your artfully designed cowl AND stay warm simultaneously! Plus, after you watch the show you’ll see that we included a special quality to our cowls, we used buttons!
Episode 5: His and Hers. This episode focuses on adorable accessories made using knit and crochet. In our deep dive tutorials, Vincent shows you how to make a simple, yet elegant rose. And I show you how to make a cute bow headband. Halfway through the show we briefly chat about our ginormous goals for each of our brands.
