The color work featured in this yoke is so engaging that I foresee a lot of late nights in your future. Go ahead, JUST TRY to put it down, I dare you!

The number one thing that my testers enjoyed about this design is how intricate the color work LOOKS but how simple it is to actually knit. This fancy yoke design is accomplished mostly with 2 color rounds with the exception of a few portions of the chart where you are using 3 strands at once.

Skill level: intermediate to somewhat beginner friendly if you are familiar with color work. Just take it one round at a time and you’ll do great!

Don’t have the budget to buy brand new yarn for this project? No problem! This bad boy is the perfect stash buster if you rotate colors throughout the yoke! The color you need most of is the MC (shown as mustard on the sample).

  • Yarn - DK weight yarn. (yardages listed above).

  • Needles:

    • Size 4 (3.5mm) circular knitting needles for neck ribbing.

    • Size 6 (4mm) circular knitting needles. 40” needles are great (especially for sizes 4+), but whatever you have on hand that is 30”+ will work. If you are a tight knitter, you may want to use Size 7 (4.5 mm) for the color work portions in order to obtain gauge.

  • Scissors

  • Yarn needle

  • Scrap yarn or spare circular needles for holding stitches

  • Gauge 4” = 22 stitches x 28 rounds.

Sizing:

Do you like a loose fit or a snug fit? This sweater was designed to include 4” of positive ease (which means you measure the fullest part of your bust, add 4” then pick the size closest to that.) If you have an in between size, it’s best to go up, unless you’re a loose knitter, then go down. If you prefer a snugger fit, choose a size that is 2” larger than your bust size. Also, if you plan on blocking your sweater, make sure to keep in mind the minimal stretching that occurs during blocking when choosing your size.
